Mrs & Mrs Bailey-Ryall | A Wedding At The Victorian Barn, Blandford, Dorset - Sofie Michelle Photography
My first wedding of 2018 was quite possibly one of my favourites ever and also my first ever Mrs & Mrs! I have had the pleasure of knowing Charlie for well over 10 years, with her wonderful mum, Michelle, being my trampoline coach as teenager. Charlie and I used to coach gymnastics together, along with her sister and bridesmaid, Lucy. It was awesome to catch up with them all through hair and makeup. I met Mel on our first consultation over coffee, with a love for sport and adventure I could see that Charlie and Mel were the perfect match.
My morning started early on Saturday 10th March, after some heavy snow during the week, we were lucky to have snow free roads and lovely sunshine through the day. First up for hair and make up, by the super talented Caroline and Elke at Amazing-Face Bridal Hair & Make Up Dorset, was Charlie (Team Ryall). Where we sipped coffee and nibbled on biscuits, caught up with from the past 10 years, reminisced over our gym days and wow'd over her stunning wedding dress which was originally her Grandmother's 55 years ago!
It was then on to Team Bailey to get stuck in with hair and makeup. We had a sore head or two from the night before, but that didn't stop them at all opening the vodka or the bubbles!
I also got to quietly fan girl over meeting GB Olympic Trampolinist Nathan Bailey!
With precise planning from Nathan - laminated lists and everything, I wanted to take him to every wedding! We managed to get both Charlie and Mel round to the ceremony hall without either one of them seeing each other. The ceremony was beautiful and full of laughter. But to start, the wedding rings were sent to the back of hall and where they were passed to each guest as a kind of blessing from each of them. With the competitiveness of both families seeping through, this soon turned in to a race of which ring would get the front the quickest! Their wonderful friend Evie played the ukulele, whilst they signed the register and as they walked down the aisle as Mrs & Mrs the guests blew bubbles. Pretty perfect right?!
It was then on to a few group shots in the sunshine and wind, their awesome VW Camper had been dolled up ready for the newly weds and the Pimm's was being poured!
BUT not before some beautiful, intimate and serious couple shots... Oh wait!
Before afternoon tea was served it was time for a little game of who knows Charlie and Mel best, plus a few shots on the top table from the brides!
The speeches followed dinner, where both father's starred in a double act, Lucy quite possibly did the BEST best man speech, in her history teacher voice and finished it off with a awesome poem.
It was then on to the first dance which, I was informed would not be a slow dance, they hate that stuff! But I am so glad, this was the best dance floor I have ever seen at a wedding - constant dancing by everyone! I later found out that Charlie and Mel even did the worm! I wish I could have stayed all night shooting <3
I am so honoured to have captured this wedding, Charlie and Mel give off such a happy persona which fills the room and bounces off everyone. The whole day was full of laughter, I wish I could photograph it all over again!
